I cast on for this multi-directional scarf a few weeks ago when my grandmother's health took a dip and I wanted something mindless to have on hand. The yarn is Lorna's Laces worsted in the colorway 'Black Pearl' that I have had for a few years. My aunt loves purple so I think this scarf will be a present for her. I am not going to use up all of the two skeins that I have so I think I may make a pair of wrist warmers with the leftovers and some coordinating Cascade 220.
Not long ago I purchased Lace Style and in looking through it I realized I had the yarn for the the 'Little Lace Shrug'. I bought un-dyed La Lana 'Phat Silk' fine two years ago and partially dyed it with indigo. My intention was to make a shrug out of it for a friend. I swatched but then never really got around to doing anything with the yarn. There are lots of patterns in this book that I like but when I saw this one and realized that I had the yarn it called for and remembered that I had originally meant to make a shrug I thought it was fate telling me that I had to cast on right that minute. So I did. This is a very easy pattern that works up very quickly. Here's hoping that 2 skeins really are enough.
This is the hemp baby sweater that I mentioned a while back. It is knit using Lanaknits allhemp6. Pictured are the fronts and back. Since taking this picture I have finished one sleeve and started the other. This is a simple pattern that really should not be taking me as long as it has (especially considering it is a sample for the shop) but it is knit horizontally and you use two different sized circs for the body and the edging. I find this a little fiddly. I can't wait to seam this up and throw it in the washer a few times. Frankly it looks like I have been knitting with kitchen twine.
In addition to these small items I am doing some pattern development and testing for a local designer who will be distributing through Muench Yarns. I post more info as I know it.
I'm off to Asilomar!
