Great minds must think alike because without even reading the comments urging me to knit a sock from my last post that is exactly what I did when I got home that night. For most of you it should be painfully obvious what pattern and even what yarn I am using. For those of you who don't know I am knitting the Jaywalker sock pattern and I am using Sock that Rock in Moss Agate. I just wanted to see what all the fuss was about. So far I am finding the pattern easy and fast and the yarn is very nice. It is knitting into a nice firm fabric. The colors are a bit more muted now that they are knitted up. In fact the colors would be down right 70's if the green was a more avocado green. I am farther along than pictured in this picture. I have turned the heel now on the sock and am working down the instep currently.
While I liked the colors in the Socks that Rock I still wanted something more spring-y. I went to my LYS and found this Koigu that reminds me of Easter eggs in the lawn. This yarn is next up on the to-be-knitted list.
Needless to say, all this sock knitting means that I haven't knit one stitch on the Sampler Stole or cast on for the fronts of Liv. Oh well. I'm happy and that's the most important thing. Right? Here is the cable detail on Liv's sleeves. The color is not quite right in the picture but I didn't want to mess with the photo any further. I had to take the photo without a flash to show the cables but it caused the blue to go way grey. Very unattractive.
I finally washed out the other four skeins that were dyed in the madder roots this morning while still in my pj's. On the left is day 1 and goes through day 7. I kept the heat at about 150 degrees throughout the whole process and I left each skein in for 24 hours. I think it is so cool to see all the colors that you can get from one dye over time.
Have a great weekend! I am off to Berkeley in a couple hours to do a natural dyes class at Deep Color for the whole weekend. Should be fun!
Man, I love the dyeing that you do. Gorgeous.
The Socks that Rock colorway is nice. I don't knit socks because the boys & I go through them too fast. Seeing a hole in a pair of handmade socks bums me out.
