Third times a charm! It took me three times but I am now finally using DSL instead of dial up. Thank goodness!
Here is the sunrise this morning takend through the windshield. Such beautiful colors and the the mountains were so well defined against the sky. It was a nice start to the day.
Then my back right tire blew out. Now, I have known for a few weeks that I needed to get new tires because the shocks on my car need to be replaced and were causing wear on the edges of the tires. I was just thinking as I was driving how I was going to call this morning the tire place so that I could get new tires and bam! I hear a weird noise. I got of the freeway and pulled into a vacant lot. Apparently they are going to develop this lot and a couple of geotechnical engineers were out there waiting for the rest of their crew to arrive. One of them helped me put my spare (which is full size) on. It was very nice of him and I told him that he would have good kharma for at least a week.
So as soon as I got to work I called the tire place and went over there where they hooked me up with new tires in half an hour. If you ever need new tires in Napa go to B&G Tires on Lincoln at Soscol. They were great.
On my way home I always drive by this car which cracks me up. When I see it I always think, " I have to take a picture of that so I can put it on the blog and share the love." Today I actually did it. This picture is, however, taken through the windshield because the neighbors were looking at me. (Click on the picture so that you can read what it says on the back windshield. It's worth it.)
I am co-teaching a weaving class at Deep Color on rigid heddle weaving so I have something on the loom. I will share when I get a bit farther and it looks a bit more interesting. Ciao!
I'm glad you & the car are ok! How scary, but it looks like karma was on your side. Hurray for good car service!

hi there brooke,
we just replaced our tires last week (one of them had a slow leak and I needed to drive solo to Santa Barbara), must be something in the jetta-sphere. Our friends are staying here on Sat. night after all. When's the class? Give me a call...

Thanks for reminding me I need to check the level in my tires.
I never mentioned living in Oaktown 'cuz we miss it and it's painful to think about (okay, kidding, but we do miss it). I'm hoping to get up for a little bit next month.
